CM Punks AEW Suspension Could Hurt Ricky Starks
CM Punk is now suspended from AEW, but that affects more than just the Second City Savior. His All Out opponent, ironically someone who is coming off a kayfabe suspension, is now out of luck.
Ricky Starks’ suspension was originally set for 30 days, but it was adjusted to 28 days a few weeks ago. It’s evident that this change is part of the scripted storyline and is now nearing its conclusion. Nonetheless, discussions surrounding Starks involve a significant upcoming match.
Sean Sapp noted behind Fightful’s paywall that Ricky Starks is not injured. That being said, his match at All Out was likely scrapped, because he was supposed to battle CM Punk for the “Real” World Title.
One of the matches on the table was CM Punk vs. Ricky Starks for the AEW Real Worlds Championship, which would have followed up their series of matches that went down this summer. From what we’ve heard it likely would have been the main event. There’s no word on the status of the match now that CM Punk was suspended after his physical altercation with Jack Perry.
The report went on to note that Ricky Starks is not at AEW Dynamite in Chicago this week. For that matter, CM Punk is also not in Chicago at all.
We will have to see if Tony Khan does anything to make things up to Ricky Starks, but it appears that he is out of a big match in Chicago. Fans will also miss out on whatever AEW had planned.
