Louis McLaughlin Orr was an American men’s college basketball coach who was born on May 7, 1958 and died on December 16, 2022.

He was currently an assistant coach at Georgetown under his former New York Knicks teammate Patrick Ewing. From 2007 to 2014, he was the head coach at Bowling Green State University, and from April 4, 2001 to March 24, 2006, he was the head coach at Seton Hall. Before taking over as head coach at Siena College, he worked as an assistant at Xavier University, Providence College, and his alma mater, Syracuse University.

He got his first assistant coaching job with Xavier in Cincinnati, Ohio, where Orr grew up, in 1990. Then, in 1994, he began working for Pete Gillen at Providence, and he soon became an assistant coach for Jim Boeheim and the Syracuse Orangemen. During his time there, he rose to become a well-known assistant and helped the team to a 92-40 record. During Orr’s tenure at Syracuse, the team twice advanced to the NCAA tournament’s Sweet 16.
