She Was Just 13 Years Old When This Sad Incident Happened, Her Last Words Were Goodbye Mommy

Omaryra Sanchez, a 13-year-old girl from Colombian, who lived in Armero near Nevado del Ruiz volcano was trapped under the debris and concrete after a landslide that killed over 22,000 people on 13th November 1985.

On that day, divers fruitfully removed all debris that trapped her however they noticed that she was stuck in a very tight place and wouldn’t be possible to save her. Meanwhile dragging her out also increases the water around her.

After 3 days of failed attempts, doctors concluded that she wouldn’t live if they forcefully pull her out and there was no surgical equipment to contain the situation from the amputation aftermath.

As she spoke with her rescuers, she asked for soda and sweets. Whiles talking about being late for her maths exams at school, her face became swollen, her hands turned white and eyes turned red.

She left a message for her mother who was by then out of town in a recording. In her words;

“Mommy, I love you, my brother, and dad. Goodbye, Mom”.

Omayra died on 16th November from gangrene or hypothermia.
